The following is from a newspaper clipping saved back when Reagan was president:
A man in Boston, Massachusetts was the doting owner of two cats whose names he proudly displayed on his front door.  After (assuming) city census takers took the names from the door while he was away, one of the cats was summoned for jury duty.  She was subsequently disqualified, not because she was a cat, but because she couldn't speak English.
