TOUCHING THE SKY

I'm in Colorado, we've been to Kansas, now let's take a quick trip to Arizona:
`
TOUCHING THE SKY
`
An ancient saguaro, majestic and noble
Keeps solitary watch above the ruins,
Crumbling adobe walls,
Where once love endured like a fortress immobile
Sequestered here snug among nature's creations,
Sweet laughter in the halls.
`
A perpetual sentry, the saguaro has heard
Symphonies through the years, the desert's own legends
Of bravery and deeds
By people who've gone before, moving us onward
Through time and tears, as we turn our own harsh bends,
Long before life's storm recedes.
`
Imagine the stories the saguaro could tell
From a century of vigilance on rustic trails.
This guardian on high
Hears trains in the distance or an old mission bell
And blesses the land with arms stretched high - like sails
Touching the sky.
